Montauk is the musical project of singer-songwriter Drew Richardson. Drew likens himself to a man who writes songs in a room, makes demos on his 2012 Mac, and then employs the talents of enthusiastic, creative professional musicians to help make them sound well good. Making music this way is how he’s most comfortable. “I think I’ve got too many songs to make to give the required time to a live band” he lies, pretending he’s said that out loud before as he types this bio himself. In truth he just procrastinates too much. Writing songs and recording appear to be his/my outlet, and has been since I was 7, so that pretty much just happens anyway. So at least I’ll leave something behind other than that bit of chewing gum I stuck in the corner of the shower four years ago. 

The first Montauk album was put out in 2018. It was nominated for “Best Rock Album” at the Independent Music Awards in New York, which was nice. It didn’t win though. Less nice, but someone did, so that was nice. 

Covid, a new job and Netflix stalled recording projects for a while. But the pandemic’s over, my new job is now just my job and I’ve nearly completed Netflix, so recording is back on for the foreseeable. New music is being uploaded pretty often, so if you happen to enjoy what you hear, check in occasionally. I’m awful at promotion, but I will work on that, promise*.
